Update: Our Afghan Refugees

The end of this month marks the end of our financial commitment to Freshta and Adela Siddiqui, and we held a lovely tea party to honour the occasion (photo above). Adela’s niece, Nahid, was visiting from the US, and it was great to meet her as well. Freshta has just started a new job, and they are moving upstairs in their building to a slightly larger apartment, which will help accommodate the dog and cat, as well as give them both their own bedroom. Adela has just had her first chemo appointment (which went well), and she much appreciated the prayers we said for her that afternoon.

As St. Mary’s is no longer officially sponsoring the Siddiquis, we have closed their sponsorship account; although members of the Refugee Committee and other members of the congregation who have been so involved in this sponsorship will still keep in touch with Freshta and Adela. We have SO appreciated all the support of St. Mary’s parishioners, both financially and with your prayers, and hope that you will still be there for the next refugee family when they arrive. Thank you.
